    Holy Martyrs Galaction and Epistemis.

    VESPERS ON MONDAY EVENING

    Kathisma Reading

    The appointed psalms are chanted.

    At Psalm 140

    Tone 7

If You mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.

O most compassionate Master and God, by the judgments which You know* grant that I may have the fear of You in my heart,* that I may spurn the works of the evil one,* love You with all my soul, and do Your saving will;* for You are our God, who said: Ask, and you shall receive.

I have waited for You as You have commanded; my soul patiently relies on Your promise,* for it has trusted in the Lord.

I have become a mockery for the demons and contemptable for men,* lamentation for the righteous and weeping for the angels,* polluting the air, the earth, and the waters;* for I have defiled my body* and sullied my soul and mind with countless evil acts,* and have become an enemy to God.* Woe is me, О Lord! I have sinned, I have sinned against You!* Forgive me!

From the morning watch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord.

I pray: Be patient with me, who am devoid of fruits, О Master,* and cut me not down like the barren tree with the axe of death,* dispatching me to the fire;* but be entreated to make me fruitful,* giving me time for repentance, in that You love mankind,* that I may wash away my many sins, О Christ my Saviour.

    Tone 8

For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him there is plentiful redemption;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

You were raised on the milk of the ascetic life,* coming to Christ in maturity, Galaction.* Through many tortures and afflictions,* you gave yourself as an acceptable offering and perfect sacrifice.* By your free will, and firm, unwavering faith,* you came to God and now dwell in divine glory!

Praise the Lord, all the nations;* proclaim His glory, all you people.

You wisely sought the source of all blessings,* and the consummation of all desire:* By his illumination, Episteme,* you were enlightened in soul and understanding.* By your steadfastness, divinely blessed one* you destroyed the ancient and crafty serpent.* You are the divine adornment of monastics, long-suffering martyr!

Strong is the love of the Lord for us;* eternally will His truth endure.

The two radiant stars arise by grace from the spiritual east,* enlightening with virtue the whole creation, * shining with the brilliance of their struggles* and the divine grace of healing. * As we celebrate their feast, let us glorify Christ,* Who through them sanctifies all mankind!

    Tone 7, Glory… Now…

O Lady, to the right tranquil haven of salvation* guide me who am tempest-tossed* amid the tumult of slothfulness.

    Prokeimenon, Tone 4

The Lord hears me* when I cry out to Him.

verse: Whenever I called, the God of my justice heard me.

    Aposticha

    Tone 7

I have come, О Compassionate One, like the prodigal son.* As one of Your hirelings accept me who fall down before You, О God,* and have mercy on me, О Lover of mankind.

I have lifted up my eyes to You enthroned in heaven. Behold, as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, so are our eyes on the Lord our God until He has mercy on us.

Like the one who fell among thieves and was wounded,* so have I fallen through many sins, and my soul hath been wounded.* To whom shall I who am guilty flee?* If not to You alone, the Physician of our souls.* О God, pour forth upon me Your great mercy!

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us; for we have been filled with shame; our soul is all too full of the mockery of the rich, of the contempt of the proud.

О holy martyrs, you who have fought the good fight and received crowns:* Entreat the Lord, that He have mercy upon our souls.

    Tone 7, Glory… Now…

Rejoice, O Sovereign Lady, O cloud of the noetic and ineffable Sun!* Rejoice, all-luminous lantern: Rejoice all-golden candle-stand.* Through you, O most holy one, has Eve been delivered from the curse.* But as you possess boldness before your Son and God* who is readily moved to compassion,* fail not to entreat Him by your maternal supplication, O most pure one.

    Troparia

    Tone 4

Your holy martyrs, O Lord,* by their passions acquired the crowns of incorruptibility from You, our God.* For possessing Your power they overcame the torturers* and shattered the feeble insolence of demons.* By their supplications, save our souls.

    Glory… Now…

Let us poor sinners hasten with fervour to the Mother of God;* let us humbly kneel before her and say from the depth of our hearts:* O Lady, be kind to us and help us.* Hasten, for we are perishing under a multitude of sins.* Do not turn away your servants empty-handed,* for you are their only hope and protection.

    DIVINE LITURGY ON TUESDAY MORNING

    Troparia and Kontakia

Troparion, Tone 4: Your holy martyrs, O Lord,* by their passions acquired the crowns of incorruptibility from You, our God.* For possessing Your power they overcame the torturers* and shattered the feeble insolence of demons.* By their supplications, save our souls.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen.

Kontakion, Tone 2: As bright and unerring stars you appeared to the world* proclaiming with your rays the Sun, that is, Christ, O martyrs,* and you have extinguished all error.* But to us you give light, praying without ceasing for all of us.

    Prokeimenon, Tone 4

To the saints who are in His land,* the Lord has made wonderful all His desires in them.
